  1. los subsidios y el exceso de gasto;
  2. la presión tributaria;
  3. unitarismo fiscal,
  4. las trabas a las importaciones y
  5. la política cambiaria.

While the Church leaves room for reasonable and well-meaning people to disagree on how best to achieve a host of desirable social goals, she leaves no room for reasonable people—politicians or otherwise—to disagree on abortion

Catholic Politicians Betray the Faith… Again

For a long time, Catholics have struggled with the question of whether it is appropriate for Catholic politicians to draw upon Church teachings in the conduct of public life. The Church has a lot to say about the way laws are made and executed. Are Catholic politicians required to act on these principles when crafting policy or selecting personnel? Can they trade one teaching of the Church off against another?

Such questions have animated the debate about what it means to be an American Catholic politician for at least the last half century and probably longer. There can be no doubt that certain privileges accrue in the public mind to those who self-identify as members of a faith community or who present themselves as adherents to a religious tradition. Yet, perhaps out of fealty to the traditional notion of a separation of church and state, many American politicians who identify as Catholics have perfected the art of the split personality, deploying the I-would-never-impose-my-beliefs-on-others expedient at the first hint of association with an unpopular position championed by the Church. Vice president Joe Biden, one of the more prominent Catholics in American politics, has said, “I accept my church’s position that life begins at conception…[but] I do not believe that we have a right to tell other people that women can’t control their body.”

The US agreed to provide financial assistance to relevant Russian entities for anti-crime measures

‘Russia is ending its dependency
on the global superpower’ – Pushkov

Moscow announced that it has terminated an agreement with Washington to cooperate in law and drug enforcement, continuing the trend of deteriorating diplomatic relations.

“Russia is reforming its relationship with the US. We have terminated the third agreement with the U.S. in the last six months,” Aleksey Pushkov, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Lower House, commented on Twitter.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to terminate the bilateral deal, the government said in a statement on its official website on Wednesday. The agreement, formalized between Russia and the US on September 25, 2002, was declared “out of touch with today’s realities and has exhausted its potential,” the statement read.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to notify Washington of the decision.

Argentina says it plans to withdraw from the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, ICSID

Argentina in the process of quitting
from World Bank investment disputes centre

Argentina says it plans to withdraw from the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, ICSID, a World Bank body designed to arbitrate between states and foreign investors.

This follows similar decisions by several other countries in Latin America like Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

Eduardo Barcesat, the chief legal advisor to Argentine’s Treasury, is working on this project. He says ICSID is quote: “a tribunal of butchers” that only rules in favour of multinational companies. Barcesat believes quitting the Center would be a key move to recover Argentina’s legislative and jurisdictional sovereignty.
