Trump and his top economic adviser have had completely different views on China

Throughout his campaign, US President-elect Donald Trump accused China of actively keeping its currency artificially low.

He promised he would label China a currency manipulator on his first day in office, and in an early-December tweet he repeated that criticism along with attacks over Chinese trade policy and activity in the South China Sea.
